When a patient needs oxygen due to a medical complication, emergency medical workers will have to use manual ventilation before they are able to use a mechanical ventilator. During the COVID-19 pandemic, ventilators are more important than ever.

In addition to a PPE (personal protective equipment) shortage, some countries are running out of machines to supply the increasing number of people needing treatment. Moreover, you can consider how the mechanics of a manual ventilator can be applied for lower-income countries that cannot afford individual ventilators, mechanical or manual, for every patient during this public health crisis.
