How was High School for you?
“I attended High School in the U.K, so my experience is a little bit different than those in other parts of the world. First of all, I was studying for my A-Levels (college entrance exams) all throughout High School. I chose to take exams in Physics, General Studies and Chemistry. I also was sure to maintain all of my grades. Outside of school I volunteered at nursing homes and worked in my father’s clinic. This helped me gain experience and knowledge about medicine.”
What fueled your passion for medicine?
“My father was a physician so I had a lot of exposure to Medicine throughout my life. However, I learned through volunteering at the nursing home and helping patients at my father’s clinic truly how amazing and gratifying medicine can be. The fact that you can have an impact on someone’s life by not only curing their illness, but by being a human being and listening to what they have to say amazed me.”
What did your undergraduate experience teach you?
“ I did not have a traditional undergrad experience. I earned my Bachelor’s while I was studying in Medical School in Liverpool. I believe, however, that those years were some of the hardest, most grueling years of my life. However, I loved every second of it. I loved the opportunity to learn and experience new things on a daily basis. Medical school allowed me to explore my passion for medicine and refine my craft.”
What advice do you have for aspiring Doctors?
“ Do something that you are passionate about. Do something that puts a smile on your face everyday. Do not enter the realm of Healthcare because of money. But, also remember to find a specialty that you are interested in and enjoy practicing, because that enjoyment will allow you to be successful. As always work hard and dream big.
